LEAN alleges state, federal agencies
ignore standards

The Louisiana Environmental Action Network on Friday filed suit in U.S.
District Court in Washington, D.C., asking the court to make state and federal
agencies enforce portions of the Clean Air Act.
The lawsuit stems from a series of court actions involving the five-parish
Baton Rouge area’s failure to meet federal deadlines concerning a 1-hour
standard for ozone pollution.
The lawsuit alleges the state Department of Environmental Quality and the
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency have not followed court orders to impose
rules that resulted from a previous deadline not being met to reduce area ozone
pollution.
